Things you should know!

Okay folks, here’s some frequently asked questions I get, some things I forget to mention, some words of wisdom and some things that make my life better as an artist.

  • Please allow extra time on your appointment day. Sometimes things take longer than you might think and there is nothing worse than trying to rush something that’s going to be on your body for the rest of your life. Also, if you arrive at the studio and I’m not quite finished with another client, please be patient. Sometimes things run over. That being said, I will always try my hardest to let you know that ahead of time if it’s going to be significantly over time! 🖤

  • Please come to your appointment wearing comfortable, loose and appropriate clothing for the area you’re getting tattooed, or bring a change of appropriate clothing. I will always try to make sure you feel comfortable in the studio, we offer nipple pasties if they are needed. I currently work with 2 other male tattoo artists and if this is something that will make you uncomfortable please let me know prior to the appointment so I can put things in place for privacy. 🖤

  • Please no heavily perfumed body sprays, deodorant etc I’m super sensitive to strong smells, even if it is lovely! 🖤

  • Flash pieces can be sized according to the the placement. That being said, there will be a minimum size. Please don’t hate me for suggesting it to be a little bigger than you had in mind, this isn’t just an artistic preference and it is also for the long-term survival of your tattoo. Tattoos do spread over time, the goal is to make them look amazing in 5-10-20 years!

  • Please eat before your appointment, bring water, snacks, whatever you need to keep you happy and ‘up’. Please don’t drink alcohol/ take drugs the night before your appointment. Getting tattooed takes a lot out of the body, be kind to it in preparation. Tattooing really hungover folks is really no fun for anyone. It’s also going to affect the tattooing process and the healing process.

  • When we book your appointment we will give you a pretty loose guesstimate of how long the tattoo will take. This will likely be before we’ve met in person and a final design has been achieved. I can give a secondary guesstimate before we start tattooing but it’s always good to prepare for the higher end of that estimate. I sometimes will cap at a certain point if I feel like I’m going over what we agreed, but please don’t plan on that. I can also work within a budget if it is agreed before the drawing process.

  • Please feel free to bring headphones to your appointment, I’m a chatter box but I also sometimes might want to focus and might not be super talkative. We have music playing in the shop but if you want to listen to your own music I would never be offended. Whatever you need to get in the zone. Would be worth adding here that there are certain body parts that don’t make for great conversational sessions, please know that if I ask you not to talk for a certain area its because I want your tattoo to be perfect!

  • If you feel like you are struggling or need a break, please PLEASE tell me. I personally am such a baby while getting tattooed so you’ll get ZERO judgement from me. Suffering through and shaking/twitching is going to make my life extra hard. That being said, tattoos hurt! There are magical lotions and potions we can use to help you but you obviously need to be mentally prepared for some level of discomfort.

  • If you are booked in for a custom tattoo, please don’t ask me to see your design before our appointment. I know this is a little scary but there is nothing to stop you from taking that design that I’ve already spent lots of time on to someone else! As per the first statement, there will be time to make modifications to the design on the day of your appointment. Of course, this doesn’t mean a whole new design. If you decide on the day you want a cow rather than a goose it’s going to be a reschedule. This is why it’s super important for you to fill out the booking form with as much painstaking detail as possible and I’m certainly not against crude sketches of what you have in mind. I don’t care how many references you send or ideas you have, just be specific if there’s something that is important. On the other hand of that, if you want me to have total freedom please let me know, it brings me so much joy when someone gives me this kind of creative control and I feel very passionately about trying to capture essence from a person for their tattoo, so send me your favorite song, flower, type of toilet paper, whatever. Let me know who you are. 🖤

  • The deposit you send me will be taken off your final session. This means if its a 2 hour tattoo it will be taken off that total for the day. If it’s a multiple session tattoo it will come off the final session. You have 48 hours before your appointment to reschedule with me, if you cancel after that your deposit is eaten by the monster that lives under my tattoo table. Single session deposits are generally $100 and full day/multiple day tattoos are $200.

  • I will not tattoo another tattoo artists work. If you have a visual artist that you like and they have given written permission, that’s slightly different. Though please bear in mind my style is pretty particular and it will still have elements of my style in it.

  • I hate to say this but it’s worth mentioning, I don’t have to say yes to tattooing you. I try to give my all and if for any reason I feel uncomfortable with you I reserve the right to ask you to leave. Our studio is a non-judgmental place and bad/unwanted behavior will not be tolerated.

  • I’m a smoker and also generally like to take breaks when I feel the need. These will not be included in your hourly rate but should be factored into total tattoo time.

  • I take pictures and videos of all my tattoos, if you don’t want those images to be used on my social media, please let me know. 🖤

  • After your appointment I will send you a text with everything you need to know about the healing process, you’ll also then have my number if you have any questions.

  • PLEASE DON’T DM ME ON INSTAGRAM ABOUT BOOKINGS - IT WILL GET LOST IN A NEBULOUS VACUUM! I’m a simple being who’s easily overwhelmed by all the admin. My lovely assistant Ella will be in charge of all my bookings from here on in and that will be through email alone. Anything outside of that net will be a lost fishy.

  • If during your session you feel like I’m not holding my end in that, please let me know. My intention is to be as supportive as possible but no one is perfect, so if I do something that upsets you please tell me 🖤

  • I welcome all types of humans/aliens, if you have any questions or special requests please let me know and I can be honest about whether I can accommodate you.🖤
